Cold-Weather Arsenal: REN Emollient Rescue Cream
I was perplexed by the multi-masking trend. Applying different masks to different parts of your face seems like a lot of faff, not to mention expensive. In fact I have never really got on with masks, not seeing the point of washing off a product I have bought to impart moisture to my skin.
And the one product I would recommend to use as a moisturising leave-on mask is not actually a mask, it is REN’s Vita Mineral Emollient Rescue Cream. It has a thick cold-cream like consistency that REN tells you to warm in the palm of your hand before massaging it into skin until absorbed. And the joy of application is further enhanced by its light rose fragrance. Until I started using REN I thought I hated rose fragrances, only knowing the artificial smell, but this has a natural and delicate aroma to breathe in as you massage onto your face, neck and décolletage. Whenever my skin needs some extra TLC I use a generous dollop that I let sink in and do not tissue or wash off.
Once applied, my skin doesn’t just feel calmer and more moisturised, it feels so so smooth which is why I also recommend this as a make-up primer. A thin layer of this helps my foundation go on and look better, which I put down to the beeswax and glycerin content, as well as extending the time before my skin starts to feel tight under my make-up. If going out without make-up, a layer of Emollient Rescue Cream provides a barrier between my skin and the elements so massage it onto your face and back of hands before stepping out.
